Mango Leads Network Revolution
New Software Company to Deliver Powerfully Simple Networking Solutions
Westborough, MA - May 6, 1997: Businesses have long puzzled over finding a network solution
they can easily implement, manage and afford, often resorting to the inefficient "sneaker net."
A new company - the MangoSoft Corporation (Mango) - is creating breakthrough
networking software solutions designed to meet this overwhelming market demand.
The company will roll out in the summer of 1997 a series of products
based on its breakthrough CacheLink network architecture, which provides a
powerful alternative to traditional client/server and peer-to-peer network
offerings. Mango's flagship product, Medley was created specifically for
small business and SOHO environments.
"Mango is breaking all the rules when it comes to
networking," said Steven Frank, CEO, president and founder of Mango.
"We have engineered a powerfully simple network environment that is
adaptive, automated and transparent that can be set up by anyone in
minutes. By blending advanced technology with simplicity, Mango is
delivering ideal solutions for small business."
Mango's core technology harnesses the untapped power and resources of a
desk to PC by automatically leveraging the idle resources of other PCs on
the network. The architecture enables shared resources and information
from the desktop with a single universal view of all the data on the
network. The simplicity of the technology eliminates the need for costly
technical support.
"Currently, 75% of all small businesses in the U.S. are not
networked due to the high cost and complexity associated with current
options," said Richard M. Onyon, vice president of sales and
marketing for Mango. "We have developed a solution that eliminates
the barriers that have prohibited the widespread adoption of networks in
this market segment. That's a boon for the market and a terrific
opportunity for Mango."
Mango will initially introduce Medley through a wide range of Value
Added Resellers (VARs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in
North America. A retail roll-out is slated for later in 1997, followed by
the delivery of Asian and European versions in the fourth quarter.
