Mango's Medley97 Achieves Best of COMDEX Honors

Breakthrough Pooling Technology Surpasses Microsoft, NDC and TDK for Best Connectivity

Westborough, MA - November 24, 1997: At the world's largest high-technology trade show, Mango's innovative networking software solution, Medley97, was honored the Best of COMDEX 1997 award in the Best Connectivity Solution category. An emerging, forward-thinking company, Mango™ edged finalists Microsoft, NDC Communications, and TDK Systems to take the prize with the Medley product line.

This year, nominees in each Best of COMDEX category were evaluated by a team of judges consisting of a PC Week technical analyst and a PC Week corporate partner, who represents buyers in the IT community - combining the testing expertise of the analysts with a real-world perspective. The PC Week judges for Best of COMDEX cited Medley's fully distributed, fault-tolerant storage without a dedicated server as the primary reason for the selection.

Nearly 600 out of the 10,000 new products featured at COMDEX were considered in 12 categories for the awards, which have become an important assessment for companies participating in the colossal COMDEX trade show. According to PC Week, entries this year were 60 percent higher than last year's show.

"By providing enterprise-level power, scalability, and reliability at a fraction of the cost of client/server networks, we believe Medley is the first truly "new" networking technology to be released in the last decade. Our receipt of this award underscores Mango's commitment to providing revolutionary networking technologies that will change the way companies connect their people and systems," said Steven Frank, CEO and president of Mango. "We're delighted that Medley has achieved recognition as a breakthrough in connectivity solutions and expect this to be the first of many such accolades."

An ideal small business tool designed to pool up to 25 systems running on any combination of Windows95, Windows NT or NT Server, Mango's Medley97 seamlessly pools and harnesses the storage and memory resources on the network it creates. Simple to install and maintain, cost efficient, and completely transparent to the user, Medley97 takes small business networking to the next level by pooling PCs - enabling them to share disk space, memory and peripherals.

Medley97 Small Business Edition supports Windows NT workstation, along with Windows95, and Medley97 NT Server Edition allows NT servers to be added to a Medley pool. The Medley97 NT Server Edition also allows users to pool multiple NT servers, providing powerful clustering benefits with enterprise-level performance, scalability and fault-tolerance in a simple, affordable solution that fits small business needs.

"Best of COMDEX Awards are designed to recognize the innovations that point the way for the rest of the IT marketplace in the year ahead and beyond, according to PC Week magazine, the host of the Best of Comdex 1997 Awards. The Best Connectivity Solution category recognized progress in speed, reliability, flexibility, manageability, and price/performance.

Judges for the Best Connectivity Solution category included Michael Surkan, technical director, West Coast for PC Week and Salvatore Collora, systems engineer for Sony Pictures Imageworks. The criteria for the Best Connectivity Solution category were usability, capability, manageability/interoperability, level of innovation, audience reaction, and overall impression.
