Mango and Nippon Telephone & Telegraph Join Forces to Offer First Complete Internet Solution
Agreement Drives Adoption of Mangosoft's Pooling Technology Throughout Japan
Westborough, MA - March 2, 1998: Mango, developers of breakthrough networking software solutions for growing businesses, today
announced a relationship with Nippon Telephone & Telegraph (NTT) that
will bring the power of Mango's pooling technology to thousands of
small businesses throughout Japan. Together, Mango and NTT will provide
the first complete networking solution including all Internet
hardware, software, and service for the Japanese small business
market. NTT is the largest telecommunications company in Japan, with
revenues exceeding $63 Billion.
NTT's Internet offering is the first total office solution
specifically designed for the SOHO market. As part of this package, NTT
will provide customers a dedicated ISDN line, an ISDN communications
device, Mango's award-winning Medley software, complete installation
and configuration of all systems, and ongoing Internet access.
Mango's software, called Mango98 in Japan, offers significant value
to NTT's customers. Beyond offering such valuable networking
enhancements as faster performance and simplified administration, Mango98
automatically installs and configures vital Internet applications such as
an Internet browser, email client, news reader, and website authoring tool
on each networked desktop. In addition, Mango98 provides seamless and
simultaneous Internet access for all systems through a single connection.
Now, NTT customers can easily and affordably experience the benefits of
the Internet.
"We are thrilled that NTT selected Mango for this important
initiative," said Steve Frank, founder and CEO of Mango. "For
the first time, small businesses will be able to achieve a one-stop, total
solution incorporating both interoffice networking and Internet access.
The advanced features offered in Mango98 are an ideal fit for such a
solution allowing thousands of Japanese small businesses to reap the
benefits of both interoffice networking and utilization of the Internet.
We look forward to future collaborations and success with NTT."
"For small businesses to fully experience the benefits of the
Information Age, Internet access must be seamless and affordable,"
said Yasaki Saito, Senior Manager, Marketing Group, OCN Service Division,
NTT. "Mango's industry-defining networking software together with
NTT's telecommunications expertise are the perfect match to deliver this
capability to our broad customer base."
Mango and NTT reached this agreement with the assistance of Mango's
Japanese partner and distributor, SVA Japan. SVA is a leading Japanese
distributor of total communications solutions, both software and
hardware, and has played an integral role in Mango's success in the
Japanese market.
The advanced Internet connectivity features of Mango98 were developed
specifically for the NTT small business offering. Mango is committed to
bringing this innovative functionality to the U.S. market and will be
announcing additional product enhancements within the coming months.
Launched in 1997, Mango's Medley provides workgroups of up to 25 PCs
the benefits of a client/server network in a simple, affordable solution
that turns all connected systems into a single powerful force. Unlike
conventional networks that merely connect PCs, Medley seamlessly
"pools" the storage and memory resources of networked computers
to create a shared environment. Pooling is the first technology to
dynamically harness and share the resources of PCs via basic Ethernet
connectivity to create a powerful, seamless and fully fault-tolerant
network.
