Mango Announces Release of CacheLink 2.0; Mango Brings the Internet's Hottest Technology, Web Caching, to Shared Internet Access Devices
Westborough, MA - January 31, 2000: Mangosoft, Inc. (NASDAQ BB:MGOF),
developers of innovative software
that leverages PC desktop systems to improve your Internet experience,
today announced the release of CacheLink
2.0, the newest version of its software-based Web cache server.
CacheLink stores frequently viewed Web pages for rapid retrieval by any
computer connected to a company's local network, dramatically improving
Internet and intranet performance. CacheLink 2.0 is explicitly designed
for integration with shared Internet access devices, bringing the benefits
of Web caching to small and medium sized businesses cost-effectively.
"Mango is committed to delivering software that leverages company
equipment to significantly improve the efficiency and performance of an
organization's Internet access," said Scott Davis, chief technology
officer of Mango. "CacheLink 2.0 extends the capabilities of shared
Internet access devices, enabling them to serve as LAN-based Web cache
appliances in conjunction with PC desktops. The integration of CacheLink
2.0 with these shared devices, and other hardware products, offers a
cost-effective solution for businesses that want high-speed Internet
access, but also need to work within a budget."
Vendors can now easily add CacheLink's high-performance Internet access as
a differentiating feature on hardware products, including shared Internet
access devices, PCs and modems. Mango also today announced an agreement
with Ramp Networks to bundle CacheLink on the award-winning WebRamp 350E
shared Internet access devices as the preferred caching solution.
About Cachelink
CacheLink dramatically improves Internet and intranet performance by
retrieving frequently viewed Web pages from other CacheLink users in a
company's LAN instead of from the Internet. It complements the browser
cache in each PC by efficiently linking them together into a single cache
pool for all PCs. Performance measurements show CacheLink delivers Web
cache hits, on average, 40 times faster than a non-cached 56K
shared-modem. CacheLink users spend less time waiting for Web content and
also free up Internet bandwidth, resulting in more available capacity.
