MangoSoft Brings Caching Capabilities To Ramp Networks' WebRamp 361i
WebRamp 361i Analog Router to be Bundled with Patented CacheLink Software to Provide a Faster Internet Experience for Small to Medium Businesses
Westborough, MA - June 21, 2000: MangoSoft Corporation (Nasdaq BB: MGOF), developers of
innovative software that leverages the Local Area Network (LAN) to speed Web access, today
announced that it will provide it's patented CacheLink software technology to customers of
Ramp Network's, Inc. (Nasdaq: RAMP) WebRamp 361i analog router. Ramp Networks recently announced
the availability of the 361i, their newest analog router that offers the most advanced security
features and a new high-speed processor. CacheLink is a powerful network software solution for PC
desktop systems that speeds access to commonly viewed Web pages and is the only client-side caching
solution priced to meet the needs of the small-to-medium size business market.
The combined products allow small businesses to economically use up to three modems to access the
Internet and store the content from those Web pages in a shared LAN cache. By providing multiple
access points to retrieve updated content as well as local access to static content, CacheLink and
WebRamp greatly increase the speed at which companies can use the Internet to
conduct business.
CacheLink software speeds access to commonly viewed Web pages and maximizes available bandwidth by
reducing traffic through the Internet connection. Using patented "pooling" technology, CacheLink aggregates
Web page content from an individual PC's browser cache, combines it with other users browser cache and makes
it available locally on the LAN. When users request a Web page that has been visited before, the page is loaded
directly from the stored cache. The content that requires updating is then downloaded from the Internet.
CacheLink runs on each PC and provides access speeds 40X faster than a 56k
connection.
"MangoSoft products are a perfect match for a small-to-medium size business Internet access device like
WebRamp," said Bob Primmer, vice president of marketing at MangoSoft. "Companies that have not been able to take
full advantage of the Internet because of slow access speeds and high costs of broadband service will now be able
to get the service they need at affordable prices."
"We have bundled CacheLink products with other WebRamp solutions and our customers continue to be impressed
with how much of an effect it has on the speed of their Internet access," said Roy H. Wells, director of
product marketing for Ramp Networks. "The entire WebRamp product line is built to provide shared Internet
access to small business and branch offices. For our analog customers, CacheLink allows our customers to make
the most of their dial-up connection by delivering the content to their PC's
faster."
