Mangosoft Inc. Introduces Cachelink Pro
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mangosoft Inc. Introduces Cachelink Pro
New Software for Small-to-Mid-Size Businesses Speeds Internet Access up to 160X Faster with a 56K Modem and up to 40X Faster with a T1 Connection
Westborough, MA - August 7, 2000: Mangosoft Inc. (NASDAQ BB: MGOF), developers of innovative
software that leverages PC desktop systems to speed up Internet access, today introduced Cachelink
Pro, the scalable computer desktop Web caching software that increases Web access up to 40 times
faster with a T1 line, up to 60 times faster with DSL and up to 160 times faster with a 56k modem.
Cachelink Pro is specifically designed for small-to-mid-size businesses.
Cachelink Pro works by allowing all users on the network to share Web content stored in each
local PC's browser cache (the memory computers use to store Web content). Users can then download
previously viewed Web pages or files from the cache on the local network, which is much faster
than going out to the Internet to download the same Web page. Users of Cachelink no longer have
to wait for a site to download; it's available instantly and therefore allows them to work
instead of wait.
Mangosoft's announcement accompanied news that the company has signed a partnership with
Marketlink, a national channel development organization, to recruit independent software
vendors (ISVs), value-added resellers (VARs), integrators and other solution providers into
the company's new VAR program. (see accompanying press release).
"One of the technology-related challenges facing many businesses today is leveraging the
power of the Internet in a way that efficiently and cost effectively provides high speed
access for multiple employees at any given time," said Jim Yearick, director of product
marketing, Cachelink. "From a productivity standpoint, Cachelink Pro is unique to the
market. The product is the only scalable software solution on the market today that
can provide faster than T1 Internet access."
"The major challenge I was experiencing in my classroom was slow Internet download time,
because I have many students accessing the same Web sites," said Russell Ewick, technology
specialist and Webmaster for Stroud Elementary in Modesto, CA. "Since installing the
Cachelink software, the delivery speed of Internet content has significantly increased
and my students are now working more effectively and efficiently on their computers.
Cachelink is fast, inexpensive and easy to install."
"Many Web users in a business or organization access the same or similar Web sites,
having to do with a particular subject area or vertical market," said Michael Hoch,
research analyst, the Aberdeen Group. "Why should employees sit idle and consume
bandwidth as they wait for Web pages to download, when a copy exists in their co-workers'
Internet temp folders? Cachelink is the first product I've seen that lets users securely
share PC temp caches across a LAN, therefore decreasing both wasted 'Internet wait' time
and bandwidth-related expenses."
CACHELINK PRO FEATURE SET
Increased Internet Access Speed-Cachelink Pro accesses previously viewed Web pages up to
40 times faster with a T1 line, up to 60 times faster with DSL and up to 160 times faster than
a 56k modem, thus eliminating the numerous bottlenecks when accessing Web pages and
downloadable files.
Increases Network Bandwidth-By redirecting requests for Web content from the Internet
to the LAN cache, Internet connectivity congestion is reduced and more bandwidth is
available for downloading new Web pages or running other network applications.
Accelerate Networks of any Size-Each time a new user installs Cachelink Pro on a PC
within a network, they add a computing power and local storage space to draw upon.
Cachelink provides high performance Internet access for networks with as few as two
computers or as many as hundreds.
Cachelink Pro Activity Meter-Computers with Cachelink Pro installed capture the speed
and efficiency of the product in real-time by monitoring the most recent hits on the
cache and the time with which it would take to download that same page from the Internet.
A graphical display shows the time saved by accessing Web pages in the cache.
Cachelink Connector-With at least one Windows-based computer connection to the Internet,
the Cachelink Connector gives non Windows-based PC's a connection into the Web cache. This
dramatically increases the number of users on the LAN, which in turn maximizes office productivity.
Pricing, Platform Support and Availability-Cachelink Pro will be available in September
2000 from Mangosoft Inc. and its resellers. Cachelink Pro works with new or existing networks
of Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000. Pricing for a full installation of
Cachelink Pro for 10 users is $50.00 per PC. Volume pricing is also available.
What is a Web Cache?-A Web cache is a place where Web pages that you have visited are stored
so that they can be displayed quickly when you visit them again. Rather than waiting to download
the same page over and over, a Web cache returns loaded pages quickly without having to go out
to the Internet. Pages you have visited can be displayed more quickly when you visit them again
and new pages can load faster because your Internet connection is not bogged-down reloading the
same content.
