Mangosoft Signs Internet Publishing Group As Mangomind Customer
Content service provider selects Internet file sharing service as secure alternative to virtual private network (VPN)
Waltham, MA - April 12, 2001: Mangosoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: BB: MGOF), developers of Internet-enabling
software and services, has signed Internet Publishing Group, Inc. (IPG) as a customer for Mangomind, an
Internet file sharing service that allows businesses to share information easily and securely with colleagues,
customers and partners around the world.
"In terms of ease of use, reliability and security, Mangomind had the best balance of those features than
all the other products we tested," said Greg Baber, chief technology officer for Internet Publishing
Group. "I've worked with virtual private network technologies in the past and compared to them, setting up
Mangomind was a breeze. Now our offices in Pennsylvania and Texas can share sensitive information without
concern that outsiders will hack into our system. Some of us have also installed Mangomind on our laptops
so we can access information on our intranet servers from anywhere in the world."
Like a virtual private network (VPN), Mangomind authenticates user connections and encrypts all data
before transferring it to the server. Mangomind provides additional security measures by keeping all data
encrypted on the server, and allows users to easily create new shared file areas with unique access permissions
for different user groups. All of these security features are accomplished without the additional hardware
and configuration complexities typical of a VPN.
Designed to maximize convenience for the end-user, Mangomind is Windows-based and looks and works just
like a local or network drive. There is no additional training or hardware needed to use the service.
A user can be on the Mangomind service and sharing files with colleagues and clients immediately after
downloading the software.
IPG's Baber said in addition to the security benefits, Mangomind has been a relief to staff who previously
used e-mail to collaborate between offices, leading to confusion and frustration as they tried to track changes
in multiple versions of the same document. With Mangomind, users can access and collaborate on one single
document from multiple locations, eliminating the need for duplication. Mangomind's unique caching capability
also allows users to work on files offline. Mangomind then automatically synchronizes the files once the user
reconnects to the Internet.
"We are delighted that IPG has chosen Mangomind to address its concerns about sharing information securely
between different offices," said Dale Vincent, CEO of Mangosoft. "We are proud of what we have accomplished
with Mangomind - a file sharing service that is truly secure and flexible, while being extremely easy to use.
With Mangomind, businesses of all sizes are able to achieve the security benefits of a VPN without having
the burden of extra hardware, extensive implementation and excessive cost."
