Effects on Offline Browsing and Some Subscriptions

CacheLink sets the size of Internet Explorer's cache to 5MB to make better use of your disk space, minimizing the duplication of content between IE's cache and the CacheLink cache.  However, IE's offline browsing feature looks for content only in IE's cache.  Also, IE's subscription facility generates error messages if a subscription download requires more space than is available in IE's cache.

Solution/Work-around

If you make extensive use of IE's offline browsing or subscriptions, you may want to increase the size of IE's cache after installing CacheLink as follows:
  1. Launch Internet Explorer
  2. For IE 4, select the "View->Internet Options..." menu item.
For IE 5, select the "Tools->Internet Options..." menu item.
  3. Click on the "Settings..." button
  4. Change the "Amount of disk space to use:" as appropriate for your needs (note that the %MB setting applied by CacheLink may appear as 0%)
